RedSwap Privacy Policy

RedSwap is a shift-trade app for firefighters, with a directory of businesses run by firefighters and their families. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. "We" means RedSwap, operated by Matthew Green. Questions: support@redswap.app.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, username and profile picture.
- Department membership: the departments you join, your rank, EMS level, certifications and platoon, and whether your crew has verified you.
- Schedule and trades: your rotation, days you mark as working, off or unavailable, the shifts you post or accept, IOUs, paybacks and trade ratings.
- Phone number (optional): stored separately and shown only to members you have a trade or "text for info" contact with, or on a business page if you put it there.
- Business pages (optional): business name, description, trades, services and products, photos, business card images, phone, website and links, and the ZIP codes of your locations.
- Reviews and reports: star ratings, written reviews, "I hired them" marks, and reports you send about content.
- Feedback: bug reports and ideas you send, with the page you were on and your phone type.
- Usage: the last time you used the app, and directory searches (used to improve search and spot missing trades).
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, messages, or payment card details. RedSwap has no ads and no ad tracking.
How we use it
- To run the app: show posts to members who can cover them, match trades, keep your calendar and IOUs, and run the business directory.
- To contact you about your account and trades: trade confirmations, reminders and alerts you can turn off in the app.
- To keep RedSwap safe: verification, reports, and removing content that breaks the rules.
Who can see what
- Your shift posts are visible to verified members of the department you posted in.
- Your name, department and ratings are visible to members you trade with.
- Business pages, reviews and photos are visible to verified RedSwap members, as described in the app.
- Reports are reviewed by the RedSwap team and, for some reports, by Trusted Reviewers, who never see who sent a report.
Service providers
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We use these providers only to run RedSwap: Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage) and Resend (email). If you add RedSwap's calendar link to Google, Apple or Outlook Calendar, that calendar service fetches your shifts from us.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, Edit profile, Delete my account) or by following the steps at redswap.app/delete-account. Deleting your account removes your profile, phone number, schedule, open posts, business pages, photos and the reviews you wrote. Records another member also relies on, such as a completed trade, an IOU or a trade rating, are kept with your name replaced by "Deleted member". Backups are cleared within 30 days.
Security
All data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access is limited by account so members only see what the app is designed to show them.
Children
RedSwap is for adults (18 and over) who work for fire departments. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app when the change matters.
